In this inspiring and entertaining talk, local acclaimed bee advocate, wildlife gardener, author and naturalist Brigit Strawbridge will tell us what she has learnt about bees, their behaviour and their decline, and what we can do to help, including the difference between honey bees, bumblebees and solitary bees, their behaviour patterns and life-cycles, the reasons for their decline and, most importantly, what we can do to help.
Brigit writes, speaks, and campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of native wild bees and other pollinating insects. We’re lucky to have her living amongst us in Shaftesbury. Her talk will include local detail that will encourage us to cherish the nature that is all around us.

Brigit will have books on sale, including her latest ‘Dancing with Bees – a journey back to nature’ and there will also be bee-friendly plants; information and seeds for those interested in flower meadow creation (see meadowinmygarden.co.uk); and chance to find out more about, or get involved with, Shaftesbury’s plan for tree planting.

The session starts at 7.30pm and doors will be open from 7.00pm. You don’t need to print out your ticket as we’ll have a list of pre-paid attendees on the door.

Tickets are £5.
