Do you want to decorate your home in a more environmentally friendly way this Christmas? Want to make your Christmas more sustainable by recycling things from around your home into beautiful handmade decorations? Then this is for you!
In this 2 hour workshop you will learn how to turn home items like plastic bags and unwanted t-shirts into recycled yarn that you can crochet into gifts and decorations!
I will demonstrate how to turn your items into yarn using plastic carrier bags as my demonstration material. Once I have shown you how to cut the material, I will then show you how to create a star decoration out of white plastic yarn that I will provide for you.
The technique that I will teach you in this workshop can be used to turn any fabric into yarn, including old linens, bedsheets and jeans!
All Crocheters Welcome
This class is suitable for crocheters of all levels, including recent beginners. I will be there to talk you through and demonstrate how to create a simple star from the recycled yarn. Recent beginners must be able to chain, double crochet and treble crochet. If you do not know how to crochet or are struggling with the basics, then please contact me about having a private lesson before you attend this class.

Crochet Hooks
As this is a workshop all about recycling and reusing – please bring your own crochet hooks to use during the session. You will need to bring a size 5mm or 6mm crochet hook. If you do not have any crochet hooks in that size, I will have hooks to use during the session but these will not be given to take home with you.
Yarn to recycle
To get the most out of the session, please bring with you two or three thin plastic bags to practice cutting them into yarn. Do not bring the long life bags that are really thick – you need to use the thin lightweight ones for plastic yarn.
I will provide you with a plastic bag to cut up in the demonstration and a small ball of plastic yarn to make a crochet star, along with a few small balls of plastic yarn to experiment with at home.
Price
The price of this workshop is £15, this covers all coaching and includes a small ball of plastic yarn to make a crocheted star during the session and take home with you. You will also get the pattern for the star to take home and you will get additional assorted balls of plastic yarn to take home.
