Please join us for our second ‘Sustainability Fair’ on Sunday 18th August in Angus Wood, a delightful woodland setting in the heart of Blandford, not far from Blandford Fire Station. This time our theme for talks and films will be the loss of biodiversity and how we can help to ‘Save Our Species’ from suffering and extinction. All proceeds will go to support the charities Sustainable Dorset/Dorset Agenda 21 and Blandford Environmental Trust.

Come and enjoy a wonderful variety of tasty plant-based savories, snacks, cakes & drinks whilst enjoying live music from ‘DirtStew’ or listening to interesting talks and films on how we can all help reduce biodiversity loss and create a healthier future for our planet and all creatures living on it. There will be lots of food and drink stalls and information stands to browse as you wander through the lovely venue in a wooded community park.

There will be fun for all the family with creative activities for children, whilst for adults there will be informative talks or films throughout the day. The talks and films start at 11am and finish at 5.30pm with a musical interlude at lunchtime, as in programme below:

TALKS/FILMS & LIVE MUSIC PROGRAMME
11.15 Talk: Gabriela Lerner:‘Sustainable Food & The World Peace Diet’
12.15 Lunchtime music from ‘DirtStew’
1.00 Talk by Dr Martin Price on ‘Drowning in Plastic’
1.50 Film: ‘WTF: Where’s The Fish?’ on the extinction of fish
2.00 Film:‘Generation Zapped’ on danger of microwave telecoms
3.30 Talk: Nigel Spring on ‘Saving our Butterflies and Moths’
4.30 Talk: Dr Graham Lambert:’Save Our Soils, Save Our-Selves!’

In order to cover the costs of the venue, speakers, live music, toilet hire, insurance etc, we would be grateful for a small entry donation of £4 (children under 16 free) to include free entry to all the talks/films and live music, with proceeds going to support Sustainable Dorset/DA21 and Blandford Environmental Trust.

PARKING: Although there are yellow lines on the town centre end, there is plenty of free unrestricted parking on St Leonard’s Avenue to the north of the venue and in side-roads, or at Langton Road carpark nearby.

REDUCING OUR WASTE: Please remember to bring along your own re-usable cups, glasses, drinking bottles etc to minimise waste – there will be refills of SPECIAL FILTERED WATER available from Gabriela Lerner’s stand, and all stallholders have been requested to minimise plastic and waste.

RECYCLING COLLECTION POINT: On the Sustainable Dorset stand we will also have a big sack to collect in a variety of recyclable waste items for charity via Ideas2Action.com and the ‘RecyclingForGoodCauses’ scheme, such as unwanted watches, jewellery, stamps, foreign coins & notes, mobile phones, cameras, satnavs, inkjet printer cartridges etc – there are lists on their websites at: http://www.ideas2action.org.uk and
http://www.recyclingforgoodcauses.org/individual-donors – so please bring along any of these you would like us to recycle for you
