Dorset Community Energy has raised £490,000 from 150 members, mainly Dorset residents, to finance community-owned solar panels on 12 schools and 4 community buildings, that will collectively benefit from £600,000 of free solar electricity over the next 20 years.
Members receive 5%-6% pa interest on their shares and their capital returned in instalments between year 4 and 20.

Sustainable Dorset is delighted to have been chosen by leading Dorset law firm Blanchards Bailey LLP as their charity of the year 2018. Blanchards Bailey, has four offices across Dorset in Blandford, Weymouth, Dorchester, and Shaftesbury. Its 70-strong colleagues will be fund-raising for our charity throughout the year and raising awareness of sustainability through its many staff, associates and clients.
