We are a small charity and we run community recycling projects across Bournemouth and Poole. We are unique in that apart from the local Council’s for Voluntary Service, we are the only charity supporting many other voluntary sector organisations. We do this through our projects:
• We Need That is our recycling directory. It shows the public that items they may be throwing into their rubbish or recycling bins, could be needed by local good causes. The directory includes over 35 charities, playgroups, faith groups and children’s centres all looking for items. These either help with their fundraising e.g. mobile phones or stamps, or in their service delivery e.g. craft sessions.
• Win on Waste® sessions are run in Canford Heath, Creekmoor, Kinson and Southbourne. Once a month residents in these areas are asked to save specific items from their waste (e.g. milk bottle tops) and donate them at a given venue. Approximately 70 people take part and six-seven good causes benefit each month.
As well as the public, we work with businesses who want to support local good causes with their waste.
Our vision for the future is to see our projects running in communities across the UK.
